sitting here at the airport getting ready to leave the states again - this time to iceland, bucharest, istanbul, and athens
thoughts are flowing, so wanted to share a few!
>i feel super grateful that i have family and friends in the states that want to spend time together when im back here, the U.S. def still feels like home and that's bc of all of them
>each time i take off to a new place, i find myself doing less and less research about the place im going, the "figuring it out" feels natural now, the unstructured environments can still be uncomfortable especially the first week or so, but i find a lot of joy and super high levels of curiosity from this - my worldview often shifts even if slightly, and i feel alive, every place i feel i grow a little, and i hope i can give a little to each place too
>i get excited about all the serendipity that will come about, the ppl i will meet and spend time with (including farcasters!), the random towns and places i haven't heard of yet that i'll come to love, the photos i'll be so lucky and grateful to take, the things i'll learn and the stories... i love hearing ppl's stories - these are the things i rlly remember long term, literally everyone has interesting stories if we just genuinely ask to hear em
>even with all of the above, i have often found for me personally that slow traveling has actually helped w my focus and feeling aligned w my purpose, perhaps due to the solitude and the constant learning but tbh im not yet sure why this is and idk if i'll ever know, so often it feels like a big creativity unlock too, which i think can go for any changing of an environment even if it's just switching things up in the same place
>nomad life is interesting bc to some it sounds like the dream, to some it sounds like chaos, to some it sounds lonely, to some it sounds exciting, and everything in between, there rlly isn't a perfect way to describe it - all i can give is one viewpoint, for me it works right now and it's a lot better than i ever would have expected, i feel fortunate
that's all for now, will try to be active in iceland when i have service, def hyped to take a ton of photos even if it's all fog, rain, and cold lol i think photography has actually helped me embrace all environments which is a topic for another day, won't be taking any of the trip for granted! Things which could help against NPM supply chain attacks similar to one which happened today:
- prefer specific pkg versions instead of ranges (2.0.0 not ^2.0.0)
- prefer rare dep updates (once per 3mo or so)
For pkg authors:
- publish from github ci
- do not store npm tokens on a dev machine
- while publishing from github ci, enable provenance for transparency & pin workflow hashes (fresh policy)Big announcement next month

Forever grateful for moments like these.Just stumbled upon this magical forest with rows of slender white trunks glowing like they’re wrapped in moonlight. The golden autumn leaves make it all feel like a dream. Can’t stop staring! It’s like Mother Nature went full artist mode. So breathtaking.A gentle breeze blows in from the lake, bringing with it that fresh, clean air that just makes you feel so alive. Nothing like a moment by the water to clear your head and lift your mood. So grateful for little moments like this.I still believe the best views come after the hardest climbs. Whether it’s a hike, a bike ride, or just life doing its thing—keep going. The scenery up ahead is worth it.After stepping on a piece of gum at the airport i am now ready for lee kuan yew’s sfo. jail for gum spitters.Life’s a lot like a long road trip. It’s not always about rushing to the next stop. Slow down. Notice the small things. The way light falls through trees, the sound of gravel under your feet.Yummy
